The Newark Valley
is much like any Nevada basin--empty valleys running between two north-south
mountain ranges. Newark Valley, unlike many other of the basins of
Nevada, benefits from above-average water supply--providing for livestock,
some crops, and fishing.
Driving north
through the valley, we stopped to fish at Huntington Creek (below)
and Cold Creek Reservoir. Both stops yielded beautiful Browns and
Rainbows.
Huntington Creek
is only about five or six feet wide at its widest point, but a combination
of factors make it an attractive fishing spot--among them isolation,
deep water, and plenty of cover for the fish.
Fishing on Huntington
Creek...obvious not too many people stop here for fish...
Ryan trying to get his hooked 17 inch German Brown fish out from under
the thick grass in the creek... he succeeded.
