Sun Tunnels

The Sun Tunnels near
Lucin in western Utah are an art project by Nancy Holt, the wife of Robert
Smithson who created the spiral jetty near Promontory Point. They consist
of four giant concrete tubes laid out in an x-configuration. The tubes
are arranged in such a way that the sun rises and sets through them during
summer and winter solstice. In addition there are holes cut into the tubes
that represent certain celestial constellations.
