Green
Creek Green Creek is located south of Bridgeprt, CA "This being "east" as in draining into the Great Basin qualifies these shots for desertislands.org..."
So I camped along
Green Creek with the intent of flyfishing/hiking/photography. What
I really got more than anything was a merciless attack by mosquitoes.
The shot above is where I hooked a monster rainbow trout that LDR'd
(long distance release - i.e., broke off).
Also, for California, there exists a surprising amount of the redneck species in places such as this. You can easily spot them on account of their propensity for bait slinging, fish beaching, gill grabbing, and sometimes unconscionable poaching tendencies. Never mind catch and release with this lot... Sometimes you can even spot them stalking the California Fish and Wildlife stock trucks (filled with hatchery raised trout). They simply follow the trucks around so that the fish can be caught immediately upon being released. Side note: When discussing fishing we (admittedly sometimes) snooty flyfishermen are always looking for and speaking of in terms of "the hatch" (i.e., Hex hatch, Baetis hatch, Salmonfly hatch, etc.). Well the funny thing is this form of subhumanity is often reffered to as "The Bubba Hatch" . Others aren't so kind as they just lump them into the category of "toothless freaks" . Enjoy!
